This website is a project sponsored by the Community History Exchange, based in Asheville, NC. After several years of posting articles and stories about family and institutional history, we have decided to venture out in a new direction, creating several new pages devoted to publishing articles about Sweet Briar College, especially some treasures that were published in the Sweet Briar News…many decades ago. This might be a good way to offer alumnae, students, parents and the general public…a glimpse into the past, and a sampling of life on campus. This effort has been triggered by the shocking announcement ( in March 2015) that the College would be closing, followed by the spectacular and miraculous efforts by Saving Sweet Briar (a group of alumnae) who managed to fight the closing.
